How we developed an acoustic tile for military use
Watch on

At Watts Urethane we have a strong innovation team and have helped many of our customers to develop new applications for polyurethane to solve specific problems.

Some time ago we were challenged to develop an acoustic tile to help mask the sound signature of a sea vessel from radar for a military application. From this, we developed a composite polyurethane tile with a sound-altering space holder material that is suitable for use in wet and humid conditions. After significant testing, this product was eventually certified by our customer and is now widely used in the marine industry.

At Watts Urethane we have a strong innovation team and have helped many of our customers to

develop new applications for polyurethane to solve specific problems. Some time ago we were challenged to develop an acoustic tile to help mask the sound signature of a sea vessel from radar for a military application.

Our solution was to develop a composite polyurethane tile with a sound-altering space holder

material that’s suitable for use in wet and humid conditions. After significant testing, this product was certified by our customer and is now widely used in the marine industry.
